Top 3 Fictional Places To Live

We’ve all been there. We’ve all read books in which we had to pause and drool a little over the world that the author has created.

I’ve always said that my ideal living place would be near a small village where my farm house can sit on top of a hill, overlook fields of grass, and where the ocean would glimmer majestically at me from a distance. Maybe I would even have a handsome farm boy who would grant my every request with a “as you wish.”

These fictional places might not look exactly like that, but they’re all magically wonderful in their own way. Now let us cast aside our reason and rules and just for a moment pretend that these actually exist somewhere and that maybe someday we can visit them to look at real estate.

1. Shire (Middle-Earth) – Hobbiton 

Although these are in no particular order, in first place obviously comes the World of Worlds. Created by J.R.R Tolkien, his creations have captured the imagination of millions of people.

Hobbiton, the pretty little village located on a stream called The Water, a little ways west of Bywater, is the place that dreams are made of. With cute little houses hidden in hills and a plethora of a greenery, this is definitely one fictional world in which I wouldn’t mind living. Of course, I could do without the hobbit feet.

Now technically this place does exist in New Zealand, and technically you can visit it, but last I heard they’re still not taking offers on hobbit homes.

2. Narnia 

A country created by the masterful C.S Lewis, Narnia is an obvious choice for this list. Preferably I would want to live there after the Hundred-Year Winter, however. Filled with talking animals and mythical creatures, it has rolling hills blending into low mountains, forests, and oceans with white beaches. Aslan also seems like a pretty cool guy to have around in my opinion.

I’ll forever be peaking into unsuspecting wardrobes in the hopes that Narnia will be waiting for me on the other side.

3. Neverland 

The place where no one ever grows up sounds hauntingly beautiful. A fictional world created by J.M. Barrie, it is the home of Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, The Lost Boys, and countless others. A beautiful island, Neverland is said to resemble a child’s mind – with no boundaries or limits.

Pandora 

Not from a book, but James Cameron created a breathtaking planet for which I’d be willing to sport a blue tail and blue skin for if it meant that I got to live there.

 

The Wizarding World 

Diagon Alley, Hogsmeade, and of course Hogwarts, there is never a shortage of things to do or see in the wonderful world dreamed up by J.K. Rowling.

Land of Oz

A magical country created by L. Frank Baum. To have a quaint little home near the shining castle would be just divine.

 

Wall 

A small town in rural England, created by Neil Gaiman in his novel Stardust, it looks rather peaceful and lovely.

 

I was thinking of including Fantasia from The Neverending Story, but that place had some really creepy characters and settings, so I thought better of it.
